G. Douglas Vallee Limited was retained by the City of Thorold as the Prime Consultant, Architect, Structural and Civil/Site Engineer for the design of the City of Thorold Fire Station. This fire station is also designed to serve as the Emergency Operations Centre, as the City of Thorold did not previously have a proper EOC.
As per the City of Thorold’s outline, the Vallee design team performed the initial schematic design for this fire station. This included general building layout, building elevations, and the preparation of a functional program. Following this, the Vallee design team was awarded the second phase of work to produce construction documents and provide contract administration services. In this stage, the schematic design was refined through construction documents to meet all applicable codes and standards. The fire station will host three fire trucks and includes training facilities and living accommodations for firefighters.
