St. Paul’s Anglican Church retained Vallee to design accessibility upgrades at St. Paul’s Community Hall in Port Dover. These improvements were part of an overall goal of making the heritage-valued building a more inclusive space for all community. Vallee also worked with the client on structural repairs to the church’s roof timbers as part of a steeple restoration and the installation of new sheathing.

The original 1860s brick building had already undergone a number of additions during the early and mid-twentieth century. After a structural inspection and review by our engineers, our architectural technologists prepared preliminary design drawings to support an accessible washroom renovation and accessibility upgrades to the main entrance, including an exterior barrier-free ramp at the entrance. Following client approval, the working drawings were completed and construction is set to finish in early 2025.

The hall’s historical significance and ongoing role in hosting events and activities make it an important part of the community’s social fabric. These accessibility upgrades will ensure this heritage-valued building remains a functional space while preserving its legacy in the community.
