  • Dorchester EMS Station Groundbreaking

    A ground breaking ceremony for the new London-Middlesex Emergency Medical Services building in Dorchester, Ontario, was recently attended by John Vallee of G. Douglas Vallee Limited. Vallee is the Prime Consultant for this new 2500-sq.ft standard two-bay EMS station that is being built in response to the needs of the County’s growing population. The design of the structure will include the ability to expand to a four-bay, 4000-sq.ft facility.

  • In Memoriam: Doug Vallee

    It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of G. Douglas Vallee, founder of G. Douglas Vallee Limited. Doug graduated from the Faculty of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) at Queen’s University in Kingston in 1959 and established G. Douglas Vallee Limited Consulting Engineers in 1964. Over time, Doug became a fully licensed Architect as well and the company then grew to include Architecture.

    Doug will be fondly remembered as a gifted mentor and genuinely kind person, respected in all facets of his life.

  • Vallee Welcomes Architect

    G. Douglas Vallee Limited is pleased to welcome
    Architect Melissa Stickl, BAS, M. Arch, OAA, MRAIC, to the Vallee
    team of professionals. Melissa is a graduate of the Master of Architecture
    program at Carleton University’s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism in Ottawa.
    Melissa is an architect with over 10 years of experience with
    a prominent architectural firm working on projects throughout Ontario. She is accomplished in managing and coordinating cultural heritage
    projects and specializes in the restoration and rehabilitation of
    designated heritage buildings. In this role, she has been responsible for
    preparation of building condition assessments, heritage records, heritage
    conservation plans, and heritage interpretation plans. Melissa believes
    in conservation and sustainability, and encourages clients to fully utilize
    existing structures and architectural features.

  • Coldstream Groundbreaking Ceremony

    John Vallee and Mark Martynowicz of G. Douglas Vallee Limited were pleased to attend the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the new Coldstream Fire Station of Middlesex Centre Fire Services. Vallee is proud to be the Architect and Prime Consultant for what is believed to be Canada’s First Net Zero and Carbon Neutral Fire Station. This progressive and sustainable building is located on Ilderton Road in the hamlet of Coldstream.

  • Vallee Selected As Bridge Engineer To Brant County

    The Structural team at G. Douglas Vallee Limited is pleased to have been selected as the Engineering Consultant for Brant County’s OSIM Inspection Services. Vallee will provide the County with structural inspection services for a four-year term, which will include over 180 structures!

  • Celebrating The Flats of Black Creek’s Official Launch

    The team at G. Douglas Vallee Limited congratulates Bob Hunter on the official launch of The Flats of Black Creek. This 39-unit freehold condominium complex is located along the banks of the beautiful Black Creek in Port Dover, Ontario. Vallee is pleased to be extensively involved in the development process of these condominiums.

  • Affordable Housing Arrives in Simcoe

    Representatives of G. Douglas Vallee Limited recently attended the Opening Ceremony of Hambleton Hall in Simcoe, Ontario. The former St. John’s United Church Sunday School and ministry building has been transformed into supported, affordable apartments by Indwell, a Christian charity, in response to the need for attainable housing in Haldimand-Norfolk County. Vallee’s Planning, Structural and Civil Engineering departments participated in the development of this caring, community-minded project.

  • Middlesex Centre Awarded Green Funding

    G. Douglas Vallee Limited congratulates our client, Middlesex Centre, on receiving funding approval for their new fire station from the Green Municipal Fund. The funding announcement states in part that Application, ‘GMF 15103 Proposed Construction of 9,900sq/ft Net Zero Energy (NZE) Carbon Neutral Fire Hall in Coldstream, Ontario’ was approved for a loan up to a maximum of $2,621,500 and a grant of up to 15% of the loan amount, to a maximum of $393,200. Peer reviewers commented that there is an excellent consulting team along with a senior interdepartmental municipal team in place to monitor and guide the project. They noted that the project will be an excellent example of net zero energy building for other communities locally through a sustainability alliance and also at a national level for other communities. 

    This initiative will also contribute towards the Ontario Long Term Energy Plan regarding conservation demand management. Finally, they said that the project is well-linked with existing plans, policies and programs and showed solid support from the Municipality’s Council. The project will also demonstrate that net-zero buildings are possible in the commercial sector with minor incremental cost.

  • Project Award: Beachville Fire Station

    The team at G. Douglas Vallee Limited is proud to have been awarded the role of Architect, Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer and Prime Consultant for the new Beachville Fire Station located in the Township of South-West Oxford.
     
    This project is a fantastic application of Vallee’s extensive fire hall design experience. It is anticipated that this will be another sustainable building by Vallee with energy efficiency design and the goal of a Net Zero Energy being implemented.

  • Port Dover Health Centre Public Open House

    John Vallee and Michael Higgins of G. Douglas Vallee Limited recently attended a public open house for the proposed Port Dover Health Centre. Also present were board members for the Centre and Norfolk County officials. Architectural and Engineering drawings of the 17,000 square-foot structure were on display giving citizens the opportunity to see the proposed building plan.
