Haldimand County contracted with G. Douglas Vallee Limited to serve as the Architect and Structural and Civil Engineers for the new Caledonia Fire & EMS Station.

The new station houses four drive-through bays, with a two-bay EMS station on the opposite side of the structure, separated by an administrative area. The fire apparatus room comprises four truck bays, storage rooms, a workshop, and an SCBA room.

The administration block comprises a training room, offices, several storage spaces, crew quarters, a mechanical and electrical room, a custodial room, a bunker gear room, and universal washrooms/changerooms. The County requested a design that would allow for an eventual Net Zero building, and, as such, the new station is equipped to accommodate solar panels.
