This project required the removal of the existing structure and replacement with a precast, open footing, 3-sided structure on cast-in place footings with cast-in place headwalls and retaining walls. The work included widening of the existing roadway to allow for 1.5 metres of paved shoulder to improve access to the Waterford Heritage Railway Trail. The Elliott Bridge, located in the historic hamlet of Bloomsburg along Old 24 Highway, is situated adjacent to the Elliott family farm and the designer, an Elliott himself, placed his father’s railway pocket watch, a family heirloom, in the concrete footing as a time capsule to honour the connection with local history.
