Vallee was retained as the Structural Engineer for the design of the Summerhaven Pedestrian Bridge, Pedestrian Trail & Waterfront Park. Located south of Selkirk on the shore of Lake Erie, this bridge allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross Hemlock Creek while using Haldimand County’s Waterfront Trail and Lake Erie Cycling Route.
The original bridge was removed decades ago; however, our bridge engineers were able to preserve the surviving stone abutment wall on the east bank, which was then incorporated into the new bridge design. This maintained the historic aesthetic of the bridge while revitalizing the park and providing a new trail bridge crossing.
