Vallee was selected by Norfolk County to provide our services on the reconstruction of Talbot Street between Chapel and Young Streets. Our municipal engineering team oversaw the entire project, from pre-engineering and detail design to tender preparation, site servicing, and contract administration.

The project’s scope included replacement of all civil infrastructure, including sanitary, storm, water, sidewalk, curb, gutter, and asphalt surfaces. Our team was faced with the unique challenge of coordinating the removal of two redundant transformer vaults with Hydro One. With the vaults being buried in front of a busy arena, Vallee’s municipal engineering staff initiated plans for the removal early in the design stage. As a result, Hydro One was able to complete their work within an available window of construction. This careful planning mitigated potential delays or impeding public access to the arena.

With sections of the street running through residential and commercial areas, it was critical to minimize disruptions. A temporary truck access was constructed and short-term modifications were communicated to the affected businesses, keeping construction on schedule without delivery interruptions.
